How can Europe lead in cloud and AI? Building policy, power and trust

Europe is charting an ambitious course to strengthen its digital competitiveness, resilience and strategic autonomy through a new generation of digital policies and infrastructure initiatives. Central to this effort are the proposed Cloud and AI Development Act, the expansion of the EU’s datacentre capacity, and broader commitments to digital sovereignty and security that will underpin Europe’s cloud and AI ecosystem in the years ahead.

This high-level policymakers’ dinner will bring together Members of the European Parliament, policy advisers and expert stakeholders to examine how Europe can translate its digital ambitions into concrete outcomes. The dinner will explore how Europe can strengthen its cloud and AI infrastructure while supporting competitiveness, innovation and technological resilience. The discussion will focus on the policy priorities underpinning the European Commission’s Cloud and AI Development Act (CADA), including investment, digital infrastructure deployment, permitting, energy and the conditions needed to scale AI capacity across Europe.

Participants will also discuss digital sovereignty, considering security, resilience, innovation and open strategic autonomy, as well as the role of public procurement as a driver for trusted cloud and AI adoption across the public sector.
