Power in a pouch: The golden key to a healthier future

Sweden is on the brink of becoming the first country in the world to achieve official smoke-free status — a public health revolution underpinned by a pragmatic harm reduction strategy and, crucially, the rise of oral pouches. Significant new research shows how these innovative, tobacco-free products are a game-changer in reducing smoking across all demographics, particularly among women, where traditional cessation tools often fall short.

By prioritising outcomes over ideology, Sweden has cut smoking to historic lows while achieving the lowest tobacco-related disease rates in Europe. As the EU considers the future regulation of next-generation nicotine alternatives, this timely event offers policymakers and public health professionals a data-driven blueprint for progress.

This event will present the new Smoke Free Sweden report, exploring the essential role of oral pouches in accelerating smoking cessation, reducing health disparities and shaping a forward-looking framework for EU public health policy.
