As the EU confronts geopolitical instability, trade uncertainty, and climate change, insect production offers a strategic solution to strengthen Europe’s resilience and sustainability. This event will explore how insect-based ingredients can reduce dependence on imported proteins, create localized, circular protein loops, and support sustainable food and feed production—advancing the EU’s circular bioeconomy ambitions.
Beyond feed, insect frass—a nutrient-dense organic fertilizer—can replace imported synthetic fertilizers, directly addressing the fertilizer supply vulnerabilities exposed by recent geopolitical crises and aligning with the European Commission’s plans to secure fertilizer and food security.
This event — a media partnership with The Parliament and co-hosted by the MEP Paulo Nascimento Cabral (EPP, Portugal) — will bring together stakeholders from EU institutions, aquaculture and livestock sectors, and circular‑economy champions. Through a series of high-level panel discussions, followed by a networking reception, participants will examine the policy priorities, regulatory framework and investment needs required to accelerate innovation, strengthen circular value chains and enable the sustainable growth of the sector.
