Menopause – from taboo topic to talk of the town?

Menopause is a natural stage of life for every woman, yet it remains one of Europe’s most neglected public health issues.

Nearly 90% of women feel the impact of menopause – from hot flushes and night sweats, to fatigue, insomnia and anxiety – and half say these symptoms limit their daily lives. Despite this, access to consistent, evidence-based care across the EU remains fragmented or entirely absent.

The impact goes well beyond health: menopause drives women out of the workforce, with major consequences for productivity, while workplace policies rarely reflect this reality.

This event will call for urgent European action – to close the knowledge gap, embed menopause care in health systems, improve workplace support, and invest in research.
